Wychwood might just be the world’s first “blackgrass” band. The duo of Chrissy Steinbock and Tim Kitz play old murder-ballads and generally dark or weird traditional folk songs, with some bright and sentimental spots thrown in for contrast. Some days they’re acoustic purists. Some days they like to corrupt traditional folksongs with elements of black metal, ambient, and noise music, in an attempt to make folk music dangerous again.

At our concerts you can expect dusty vocal harmonies backed by banjos and guitars, along with a smorgasbord of other instruments – accordion, saw, harmonica, bass, glockenspiel, dream ukulele, and probably some other instruments we either can’t remember or have picked up since writing this.
